In 2003 BMW bought Rolls Royce and the Phantom was their first new offering. The preceding few Rolls models had moved away from the distinctive styling that had been the hallmark of the Rolls brand. They were still elegant but had become rather regular looking cars. The Phantom was a game changer. It was an - in your face stunner, the likes of which had not been seen from any manufacture for many decades. It was physically imposing and immediately iconic. There was no doubt this car was a Rolls Royce.

While previous Rolls Royces were not necessarily admired for their performance, the makers of The Ultimate Driving Machine had a different idea. Knowing that weight was the enemy of performance the Phantom was designed to be as heavy as necessary and as light as possible. It was built with a weight saving aluminum frame and a light weight aluminum body. Adequate was no longer used to describe the Rolls engine. The Phantom was proudly powered by a BMW designed 453 horsepower, 6.75 liter, 12 cylinder engine. A new 6 speed automatic transmission was matched to allow the car great acceleration with reasonable economy. This was the first Rolls in a long time that impressive could be used to describe the looks and the performance.

This is our first Phantom and to say the least, we’re blown away. The car is clearly in a class of its own. It towers over everything else in the showroom both in size and presence. It is a huge car but drives with the speed and agility of a sports sedan. The fit, finish and appointments far exceed those of any other luxury car. The Phantom moves Rolls Royce to a new level.

Our car was sold new in Miami. The wood was special ordered in a lighter than normal color that nicely complements the beige leather. The car is complete with books, tools, and three umbrellas. It shows 27,725 miles and is in exceptional conditions.

A Rolls representative once said that their competition wasn’t another car, it was a yacht or a second home. Spending time in a Phantom proves the point; the Phantom has no equal in the car world.
